New iTunes visualizer May 7, 2007

Here is this thing that does stuff in iTunes. There is magnetism, there is gravity, but on top of all of that, there is awesomeness. Watch as all the dots and ribbons go bouncy bouncy when you play music and trigger this mo-fo of a visualizer. This is the future of visuals. God help you if you smoke the reefer cause you can kiss your productivity goodbye.

By the way, don’t go crazy with the A and S keys – they add or subtract a hundred particles at a time – tap once or twice and wait for the results. If it starts acting poorly because you hit a bunch of keys, just quit and restart.

Firm uncovers evidence of iBook G4 flaw May 5, 2007

A groundbreaking decision by the Denmark Consumer Complaints Board could have crucial consequences for Apple and thousands of Apple laptop users on a global level. The board says it has evidence of a hidden original design defect in Apple’s iBook G4 systems which the Cupertino-based company repeatedly denied. Thousands of users all over the world have tried to get Apple to acknowledge the fault and agree to take back the computers, according to the board, but all have failed. The Consumer Complaints Board now claims to have documentation proving the existence of a design fault, and decided in April that Danish consumers must be able to return computers with this fault to Apple.Affected iBooks lose power and the screen goes blank after just over one year’s use, but notebook owners were told their warranty had expired and that they would have to pay for repairs performed.

Despite this, Apple has already settled numerous cases in Denmark on the basis of the investigation report, according to the board, but it remains unclear whether the company will continue denying that the fault exists in the same type of computer outside of Denmark’s borders.

Here’s a very simple tip than can save a huge amount of time. If you put a lot of work into a Photoshop file, like lots of edits and masks and layers and special effects, you’re going to want to save often. Problem is, the more layers you accumulate, the bigger the file, the less you want to be interrupted to save the file. And the bigger the image to begin with, the bigger the problem. So here’s a way to save a big chunk of time while saving (the bigger the file, the more time you’ll save).

#1: Get TinkerTool

It has a whole mess of useful tweaks in it and it’s free. Just get it, you won’t be sorry:

#2: Use Go -> Go to Folder to jump to Finder folders

Shift-Command-G for quicker access, use Tab for auto-complete of folder names. Works in Open/Save dialogs but is case-sensitive there for some reason.
