Brian Springer’s 1995 documentary Spin, a clever bit of film in which a lot of the back channel news feeds not meant for public viewing reveal the machinations of image mongers during the 1992 primaries, presidential election, Operation Rescue abortion protests, and the LA riots.

Pretty neat video fake of a “mobile” version of Leopard running on an iPod. It’s most likely just recorded on a machine running OS X, then transferred to an iPod 5G with the guy mimicing the mouse’s movements with his stylus. Cool nonetheless. – Jason Chenipod-1.jpg

Rules of the road: (1) No raking women with your eyes; glance quickly and respectfully. (2) Offer to share a taxi rather than fight over it. (3) Babies in strollers get right-of-way—until they abuse it. (4) Still no ogling girls—c’mon! (5) And skateboarding, are you kidding me? (6) Not everybody loves your dog as much as you do. (7) No bicycling on the sidewalk unless under the age of 6. (8) Pedestrians can die of secondhand smoke, too.

As more people begin switching to OS X from Windows, they are going to need some additional software, other than what comes stock with OS X. While this list isn’t totally complete, it’s a good starter list, to enable a somewhat seamless transition. I wanted to keep this list fairly simple, and not overwhelm the new Mac user. That’s why you don’t see my favorite podcast apps, big commercial packages, etc. Most of this software is free or donation ware. If you use it, support the developers.
